How do I make a payment to my credit card?
Most credit card issuers let you pay your credit card bill by phone, through an online account or mobile app, or by mail. You may also be able to pay in person.

To use your debit card to pay a credit card bill, you must do so via bank transfer payment. In other words, you have to use either a credit card provider's payment portal or a third-party payment portal that includes not only your debit card information, but also your banking information.
Here are some common ways that card issuers will usually let you pay your credit card bill. ACH transfer — Add your bank account and routing numbers to your credit card company's website or mobile app, give them a call to provide your info, or mail your credit card statement back to your card issuer with your ACH info.
If you want to make a credit card payment over the phone, call the number on the back of your credit card. Before you make the call, make sure you have the bank account number of the checking or savings account from which you'd like to have the payment deducted. You can even mail your credit card issuer a paper check.
If you use online banking, you can pay your credit card (and other bills) directly from that bank account. The process may vary — but typically you'll have to select Bill Pay, choose the type of bill you want to pay (in this case, credit card) and enter your account information.
To pay online, the person paying starts by logging in to their own financial institution. They can input the information needed to add the credit card issuer as a payee. They'll also need your account number. If they expect to pay the bill regularly, they could set up autopay.
At a financial center or ATM
To pay at an ATM using checks or cash, insert your credit card into the ATM, then select Make a Payment and follow the instructions (please note that payments to business credit cards are not supported at ATMs at this time).
To ensure that your payment is on time, it is always a good idea to pay a few days in advance of your billing due date. This is especially true if you are mailing in a credit card payment. If you are unable to pay your credit card in full, you will be carrying a balance over from one billing cycle to another.
If you're under financial stress and can't afford to pay your credit card balance in full, it's best to pay as much as you can each month. Any amount will help to reduce the amount of compounded interest you'll end up paying.
Can I pay money directly into my credit card?

If you call the customer service number on the back of your credit card, most have a menu that includes checking your current balance and statement balance, as well as an option to pay by phone. Your current balance is any unpaid balance, including for purchases since your last statement.

Can I add money to my credit card to increase limit?
No. Paying “extra” to the bank just reduces your bill or prepays future charges (depending upon whether you carry a balance). Call the number on the back of the card to request a credit limit increase.
The 15/3 rule, a trending credit card repayment method, suggests paying your credit card bill in two payments—both 15 days and 3 days before your payment due date. Proponents say it helps raise credit scores more quickly, but there's no real proof. Building credit takes time and effort.
You make one payment 15 days before your statement is due and another payment three days before the due date. By doing this, you can lower your overall credit utilization ratio, which can raise your credit score. Keeping a good credit score is important if you want to apply for new credit cards.
So, if you make payments to your credit card company before your due date, you'll have a lower balance due (and higher available credit) at the close of your billing cycle. That means less credit card debt gets reported to the credit bureau (or bureaus), which could help your credit score.
In fact, Equifax reports that credit card issuers only report to the credit bureaus once per month, usually on the billing cycle date. Ultimately, this means making multiple payments per month won't help you demonstrate a more positive payment history than making just one payment per month.
