V Rising from Stunlock Studiosand Auroch Digital brings us an interesting vampire survival action RPG on PlayStation 5. In this open-world journey, you’ll be taking on the role of a vampire who must do whatever it takes to recover its power. After a centuries-long slumber, it’s now time to quench your thirst so that you can work on leaving behind the weakened state you wake up in. You can go on this journey on your own, take on it in co-op, or experience a persistent online multiplayer world. You can cooperate with others online, or you can be a bit more violent and try to steal everything from them.
You can enjoy V Rising by creating a private game to host your own world – to which you may invite other vampires to join the cause – or you can go online to join another realm. The advantage of creating your own private game realm is that you can customize and tailor your experience so that you can have the best time possible with this one. The more general options are Relaxed, Normal, and Brutal. Relaxed will allow you to explore at a slow but steady pace without having to worry too much about the combat. Normal offers the standard experience, balanced to offer a challenging journey that won’t feel unfair. As for Brutal, it’s best left for seasoned hardcore gamers who want to take on everything the game throws at them to show their skills.
You can go into the Advanced Game Settings and change the different parameters as you please. You can adjust the clan size to determine how many players can join a single clan, determine if there should be a global chat to communicate, set the server time zone, establish the permissions for looing dead players, set the Soul Shards amount, the intervals for Mortium Rift Incursions, the duration for Minor Mortium Rifts and Majorr Mortium Rifts, day length, day time length, inventory stack multiplier, loot multiplier, durability loss multiplier, blood essence multiplier, physical power, spell power if your castle can be raided, the decay rate for your castle, territory tile limits for building, servant limits, your starting equipment level, starting resources level, and your vampire’s starting level, to name some examples.
This new adventure will begin with you choosing how your vampire should look. The first step is selecting a body type for your vampire. After that, you can choose from the available face types. Then, you must pick an eye color. The next options will be for hairstyle and hair color. You can decide if you want to add some facial features, such as a peculiar mustache or a full beard. The last thing to do before giving your vampire a name will be to select its accessories. You can add earrings, masks, glasses, and even a blindfold for dramatic effect. Once all of that is sorted, it will be time for you to wake up from your slumber. As you exit your coffin, a new world will be ready for you to conquer it.
You’ll be taking control of your vampire with the left analog stick as you aim around you with the right one. You can use your primary attack with the R2 button, using weapon skills with the L2+R1 buttons and R2+L1 buttons. Spells will be slotted to the L1 and R1 buttons. Your ultimate will be mapped to the L1+R1 buttons combo. The X button can be used to interact as needed, as well as to collect items for your inventory. It can also be pressed to interrupt an ability if this is beneficial to you. Say you want to turn into a wolf, but you spot a bear rushing toward you! Canceling the transformation will allow you to avoid being damaged so that you can strike the bear and then transform.
Since you’ll also be working on building up the best castle possible to support your lavish unlifestyle, you’ll need to place structures and decorations that better reflect you – pun intended. You’ll place structures with the R2 button and can dismantle and repair them with the Triangle and Square buttons, respectively. Since you’ll want to have everything placed just right, you will be able to rotate structures with the L1 and R1 buttons so that you can find the right spot for all of the things that you can build the castle – or castles – of your nightmares.
