There is an enormous amount of seeds inMinecraft, meaning that you are theoretically able to access worlds of all shapes and sizes depending on your own personal preference. The only problem is that seeds are usually comprised of totally random numbers, so knowing the best ones doesn’t exactly come naturally. You could get lucky by inputting an arbitrary sequence, but it’s probably easier to consult a curated list of all the best worlds in Minecraft— that’s where we come in.

To save you from spending potentially hundreds of hours scouring the world ofMinecraftseeds with little to no guidance, we’ve put together a comprehensive list of thebestMinecraftseedsfor update 1.18. Here are ten of our favourites.

How to use Minecraft seeds

Ok, so before you decide which of these ten seeds you want to try out first, it’s important to know what a Minecraft seed is and how to use one.

When you boot upMinecraft, you should immediately see the option to create a new world from the home screen. Choosing this will generate a random world seed and drop you in it, although you can be a whole lot more selective about the whole process if you’re sick of endless acacia trees and diamondless mines. All you need to do is hit the ‘more world options’ prompt, which will ask you to input a code into a blank field — this is the seed.

Once you confirm the seed you want to use, you’ll spawn in the world in question and be free to explore at your own pace. If you don’t like it, you can easily just create a new world and use a different seed. In general, once you start experimenting with seeds you’ll never want to stop — it’s a good thing we’ve collected several for you to mess around with.

The 10 best Minecraft seeds

From stories of boats and icebergs to worlds that allow you to reach The End in mere minutes,Minecraft’sbest seeds are extremely varied, allowing for all manner of adventure and experimentation. While there are technically hundreds of great Minecraft seeds worth checking out, here are ten of our favourites to get you started.

Mountain mansion

This recently discovered seed is absolutely bizarre. While there are lots of seeds for easily accessible Woodland Mansions on the internet, most of them are pretty similar — you find one, loot all of its resources, and head off on your merry way.

That’s not the case with this monstrosity. Instead of being an overworld villa in a conventional forest or jungle, this Woodland Mansion literally spawns inside a mountain, creating its own weird and unique biome. It’s one of the strangest setups we’ve ever seen naturally occur in Minecraft, so it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a change of scenery. There are also two villages situated on top of the mountain to sweeten the deal a bit.

Heart-shaped box

Ok, so this is another mansion seed, but we swear it’s the last one. Similarly to the seed above, this loads a world with a slightly more intriguing mansion than the ones you’re likely to encounter in a standard server.

Instead of just being yet another wooden house surrounded by trees and cattle, this mansion is located in a massive heart-shaped valley surrounded by badlands biomes. If Kurt Cobain were alive and into Minecraft, he’d probably call it a heart-shaped box – although that’s admittedly speculation on our part. There’s also a pillager outpost here, meaning this isn’t just a nice seed to look at – there’s plenty to do, too.

Best speedrun seed

Minecraft seeds: the most amazing seeds for Minecraft worlds in 1.18 (5)

While a lot of people just want to build castles and causeways in Minecraft, there are some hardcore players out there who thrive off speedrunning. If you’re included in that demographic, you’ll be glad to know that there’s an optimal seed for speedrunners, although simply spawning in won’t be enough to guarantee you a good time.

Fortunately, preliminary instructions are included in the video linked above to provide you with some much needed guidance. You’ll need at least a rudimentary understanding of Minecraft speedrunning to put all of the individual pieces together, but hey, you probably wouldn’t care about this seed unless you were already invested in the community, right?

Titanic

We already mentioned it above, but you can technically find the Titanic in Minecraft if you know the right seed. There’s no ragtime and Leo DiCaprio is conspicuously absent, but shipwreck? Check. Water? Check. Iceberg? Check. All the pieces of the puzzle are there.

Unlike some of the other seeds on this list, you’ll need to do a little bit of wandering around before you find the ship itself. Fortunately, the person who originally found the seed shared coordinates at the link above, which are X5462 Y70 Z3613. Once you boot up the world and make your way towards that exact location, you’ll be able to live out your very own virtual Titanic-style adventure, which doesn’t actually sound like much fun, but hey – maybe you’ll win 11 Oscars for it.

Minecraft title screen

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to wander around the world depicted in Minecraft’s title screen? If so, you’re in luck – after almost ten years, you’re finally able to explore the one biome every Minecraft player in history has laid eyes on.

It’s pretty old news at this point, but a lot of people out there still don’t know that a group of players discovered the seed for the world in Minecraft’s title screen a while back. It’s not quite as weird as the mountain mansion, nor is it as immediately recognisable as the Titanic, but it’s definitely worth visiting at least once in your Minecraft career. If you manage to find or build something of interest here, you’ll probably go viral overnight. Not that you should want to…

Flying village

The title says it all – who wouldn’t want to visit a flying village? There’s a reason people are so fond of Skyloft in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword – Groose. Oh, and because it’s extremely cool to be part of a floating civilization situated a mile above sea level.

This flying village isn’t truly flying in that it’s technically connected to a mountain, but you can just smash the blocks between them and the village itself will remain suspended in the air. You might struggle getting back up if you decide to leave, although that’s one of the reasons we also decided to put together a guide to the best mods for Minecraft – with da Vinci’s flying machine, you’ll be back and forth from your flying village like there’s no tomorrow. The submarine might not be very helpful, though…

All biomes within 2,000 blocks of spawn

With yet another self-explanatory title, this seed allows you to visit each and every biome in Minecraft without having to venture more than 2,000 steps from your point of origin. Obviously you’ll need to make good use of your map if you’re to do this effectively, but provided you keep track of where you are – we recommend building structures to denote the location of certain landmarks – the world is quite literally at your fingertips.

This seed used to be a bit of a bigger deal given that the extremely rare Jungle’s Edge biome is much more common in 1,18, although its spawn is still within walking distance of everything you could possibly want. Basically, it’s still pretty great.

Hidden desert village

While most of the entries on this list are grandiose in one way or another, this seed is just downright gorgeous. A snowy sierra surrounds a dense forest on all sides. From the outside, it looks as if nothing could possibly be in the middle. If you’re willing to delve a little deeper though, you’ll come across a secret desert village hidden away from the rest of the world.

This one is just cool to hang out in, although if you’ve got some time on your hands there are definitely some extremely cool ways you could play around with the mountain/forest/desert cascade. Unfortunately, this one is only available for Java players, meaning anyone running Bedrock is out of luck. Sorry!

Sky village

Minecraft seeds: the most amazing seeds for Minecraft worlds in 1.18 (11)

Yes, we know, we already included a flying village on this list – but look at this sky village! There’s a difference, you see, because the floating structure we spoke about above is relatively low-hanging. On the contrary, this sky civilization is neatly nestled at the top of a massive spike protruding from the ground and piercing the sky. How someone even managed to realize the village was up here is beyond us, although we’re glad their enterprising sense of adventure led them to it.

One of the most interesting things about this village is that it can’t be raided. While pillagers still spawn outside it, they’re so far below that their raids end instantly, meaning this village is essentially impenetrable. It’s nice to know that at least some of Minecraft’s villagers are safe from endless waves of creepers and zombies.

Mega taiga mountain range

Weirdly enough, this last seed doesn’t necessarily have anything particularly special about it. There’s no iconic ship, no skyborne civilization — it’s just a mountain range. Still, it’s impossible to deny its status as one of the most stunning Minecraft seeds ever. Sometimes the best things in life are the most simple ones, eh?

As soon as you load into this world, you’ll find yourself surrounded by a massive mega taiga biome. Once you get your bearings and become acquainted with the lay of the land, you’ll learn you have access to a village, a desert, and a snowy area, although to be perfectly honest you probably won’t want to venture too far away from the mountain itself.

While this seed is gorgeous regardless of how it’s rendered, the screenshots included at the link above were all taken with RTX enabled, which obviously affords them an extra bit of pizazz. It’s worth noting that this is probably our favourite seed to use RTX on, meaning that even if you don’t have access to it, it will still look nicer than the majority of other worlds. Again, it’s not especially fancy or weird — it just has unbeatable views and a whole lot of stuff to explore and uncover.
