Craig Melvin (Full Name: Craig Delano Melvin) is a popular American journalist who is a news anchor at NBC News and MSNBC. He is also a fill-in & substitute anchor at Today & NBC Nightly News. Craig joined NBC Today in August 2018 and became co-host of Today Third Hour in October 2018 prior to being permanent in January 2019.
He first worked as an “Our Generation Reporter” at NBC affiliate WIS-TV in Columbia, South Carolina from 1995 until 1997. Following college, Craig rejoined WIS in July 2001 as a news photographer and producer, prior to becoming a correspondent for the station’s morning news team, producing his “Craig Cam” live segments.
He was afterward promoted to a news anchor for the weekend morning newscast and the weekend evening newscasts before working on the weekday newscasts. At WIS-TV, Craig also created many series that covered challenges affecting education and the poor in Columbia, among others. He left WIS-TV in July 2008 and joined NBC’s owned-and-operated station in Washington, D.C., WRC-TV.
