Transfers Purged
All Transfer Preferences Removed from FOS
The Company has removed ALL transfer requests from FOS (Flight Operating System). This was necessary to ensure we have accurate information after the one-time vacancy transfer ballot process for November and with the migration of LUS Flight Attendants into FOS.
Note: As an exception, former TWA Flight Attendants holding a priority return bid for St. Louis (SLT) will remain on the list until they request removal. All other SLT transfer requests were removed from FOS.
If you want to be considered for a future transfer, including the next round of mutual transfers (processed Sept. 26 for the November bid month), you must sign in to FOS and update your 3*.
To add or update your transfer preferences, while in your personal mode, type:

Mock Bidding is Open – LAA
Mock bidding is open at all LAA bases except DFW and MIA. You have the opportunity to practice bidding twice during the month.

Remember at non-PBS bases you will continue to bid in DECS for you actual schedule until PBS is implemented at your base.

Why Did My Hotel Change? How Will FOI Affect My Layover?
We realize changes are happening at a fast and furious pace, and the Hotel Department is no exception.
Currently PBS bases are assigned hotels through a program separate from non-PBS bases. Layover hotels are published on trip sheets in advance of bidding and PBS bases also access hotel /transportation information from CATS.
With FOI occurring Oct. 1, all layover hotels will be allocated from one system and layover assignments will be determined by the length of layover (ODL) and room capacity.
During this transition to FOS there may be adjustments made to what is published on the trip sheets.
Example: Trip sheets may list all HNL layovers at the Ala Moana hotel, but as allocations are run, some crews may be allocated to the HNL Waikiki Prince hotel (based on ODL & capacity).
We understand your frustration when this happens since many flight attendants bid their trips based on the layover hotel. Please continue to monitor your sequence/trip information via your base specific norms (CATS or DECS). I will provide more information as it becomes available. Transferring?
Flight Attendant Workers’ Compensation Base Transfers
When moving into a new base, Workers’ Compensation laws may differ from your previous base assignment. State Workers’ Compensation guidelines require AA to provide you the following information:
- Injury on Duty claims are administered by Sedgwick with applicable workers’ compensation laws for the state in which the employee is based.
- Workers’ Compensation will pay for medical treatment and lost wages for any employee that suffers a compensable injury or illness that arose out of and within the course and scope of their employment.
- Claims are administered by the Company’s Workers’ Compensation Third Party Administrator, Sedgwick.

“Ok to Close?”
The aircraft boarding door may not be closed until verification that all carry-on items are properly stowed.
FAR 121.589 states “No certificate holder may allow all passenger entry doors of an airplane to be closed in preparation for taxi or push back unless at least one required crewmember has verified that each article of baggage is stowed.”
Please do not close the aircraft entry door until the verification of carry-on items has been accomplished.

Longtime APFA Member Vickie Holt Runs for Office
APFA applauds ORD-Based Flight Attendant, Vickie Holt, for running for office in South Carolina Statehouse District 48.
About Vickie: Vickie says that her career as a Flight Attendant helped her to hone the compassion and the listening and diplomacy skills she hopes to bring to the South Carolina Statehouse. As a Flight Attendant, she found that listening always led to answers and that when you see a problem, a quick and proactive approach is always the best solution.
Unions and Worker’s Rights:“My stance on unions is firm and unyielding: I will both co-sponsor and vote for all legislation that preserves workers’ rights to organize, join and maintain unions; and, I will work to protect those workers who are currently members of unions. The Economic Policy Institute has released figures stating that wages go down 3.1% in ‘right to work’ states. I will fight to make sure wages go up, not down, by protecting unions and their rights to organize.”

APFA Retirement Specialists Patrick Hanco*ck and Kim Tuck will be conducting a Retirement Seminar in DFW thisFriday, September 14, 2018 11am-2pmin the Yandry Center in Terminal C across from Gate C2.
The seminar will cover a wide range of topics including Retiree Travel, Pensions, 401(k), Medicare and COBRA insurance. We will also have Brandon Williams, a Financial Planner with the Flagship Financial Group, available to answer questions about retirement planning and discuss some of the no-cost services they provide to AA Credit Union members.
